Learn how to clean an iron with cornstarch and distilled water to get rif of mineral spots and stickiness that may affect your iron performance in the future
If you don’t have baking soda at hand but need to clean your steam iron, cornstarch can come in handy! Just make sure you use it right to prevent your iron from clogging.
You can warm up your iron to make the cleaning process easier but when you get to the actual cleaning, unplug your appliance.
Warm up 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar and add 1 tbsp of salt. Mix the ingredients until the salt dissolves completely then transfer to a bowl. Add 1 tbsp of cornstarch and mix again to form a paste.
Spread the paste over your Easygliss steam iron and wipe it off gently with a damp cloth. Make sure you don’t use sharp metal pads because they can damage the surface.
Fill a small bowl with distilled water. Dip an ear cue tip in the water and then clean the holes carefully to get rid of the remaining starch.
Fill 1/3 of the water tank with distilled water. Plug your iron and then press on the steam trigger to release any additional starch remains. Wipe off the soleplate and store your iron until further use.
