How to better use my product

What does the defrost button do? (Depending on the model)

The defrost button allows you to defrost your bread and automatically allows extra cooking time for the toast to cook.

What is the reheat function for? (Depending on the model)

A Reheat function on a toaster automatically reduces the toasting time to approximately 30 seconds so that cooled toast can be brought back to temperature, without burning the toast.

Can I use toaster bags in my toaster?

No our toasters are not suitable for toaster bags.

What is the high lift function used for?

This gives the ability to slightly raise the bread carriage, allowing you to remove smaller items such as crumpets and bagels without burning your fingers!

Where should I use my toaster?

On a work surface with enough space around it, away from any flammable substance (curtains, bin, electrical socket, etc.) and never unattended.

What type of bread can I toast?

Almost all types of bread available in stores. You should be aware that dry bread toasts faster than fresh bread. Frozen bread toasts more slowly. With the adjustable thermostat, you can adapt the toasting level to suit your taste. If a slice of bread gets stuck in the appliance, unplug it and leave it to cool down. You can then remove the slice without any risk of getting burned.

What advice is there for toasting bread that is not fresh that day?

The differences in the humidity levels between the various types of bread may cause the time and toasting level to vary. Slightly dry bread should be toasted at a very low position. Very fresh or wholemeal bread should be toasted at a slightly higher position. Bread with an uneven surface, such as English bread rolls, may need a higher toasting position.

Can I toast bread containing cereal or fruit?

Yes for bread containing cereal.
No for bread containing dried fruit, in fact toasting it will give the bread a bad taste and may transform the fruit into embers, which could lead to material damage.

Can I toast small bread rolls in the form of "rousquilles"? A small round biscuit 8 cm in diameter sprinkled with sugar.

We do not recommend heating or toasting products covered or coated with sugar.

Can I toast very thin or very thick slices?

Yes. With the automatic centring fitting all our toasters and with the extra deep and extra wide slots on our new models, buns, rolls, thin or thick slices can easily be toasted without sticking to the heating elements.

Is it possible to defrost other products than bread?

No. Never use your toaster to bake, grill or defrost frozen foods other than bread.

Is it possible to reheat croissants or small buns?

It is only possible in appliances specially designed for small buns. Be careful as the toaster can only contain 2 or 3 buns at the most to avoid a concentration of heat.

Is it possible to reheat and toast at the same time? (Depending on the model)

No, the appliance can only be used for one function at a time.

How long should bread be toasted for?

Maintenance and cleaning

How do I maintain and clean my toaster?

Before cleaning, maintaining or storing it, unplug the toaster and leave it to cool down. To clean the outside of the toaster and the power cord, use a soft cloth or a slightly damp sponge and detergent, then dry it all over. To clean the crumb tray, remove it and wipe with a damp cloth. Do not put it in the dishwasher. To maintain the toaster, never use harsh detergents, metal utensils or abrasive scouring pads. And never touch the heating element.

Technical support

The operating lever on my toaster will not stay down.

The lever will only stay down when your toaster is switched on at the mains socket outlet. If there is still a problem, unplug the toaster and turn it upside down over a sink and gently shake to remove any large crumbs that may be blocking the mechanism. If the problem still persists, take your toaster to an approved service centre.

Why might I get uneven browning when toasting one slice of bread?

One slice of bread in a two-slot toaster causes uneven heating.

What should I do if my appliance is not working?

After following the instructions in the user manual for starting the appliance, make sure that your electrical socket is working by plugging another appliance. If it still does not work, do not try to dismantle or repair the appliance yourself, instead, take it to an approved repair centre
