It doesn’t take much to take care of steam irons and keep them running. Just like any appliance around the house, steam irons need the right cleaning and maintenance routine to keep them going. So here are some tips that we believe are helpful for cleaning and maintaining a steam iron so it won’t end up clogged and malfunctioning.
To do so, unplug the iron and let it cool for 45 minutes. Then, empty it and remove the anti-calc valve. Soak it in a cup of white vinegar or lemon juice for 4 hours then rinse it and place it back in your iron.
In order to keep your Tefal Access Easy clean and running, wipe the soleplate with a damp smooth cloth. Do not use detergents or cleaners and never ever wipe the surface with a metal pad as it will damage it. Also, avoid placing your iron on sharp objects such as zippers and metal buttons unless the manual of your model states that you can.
As soon as you’re done with using your iron, empty the tank. Don’t worry about few drops of water left inside but try to empty the tank as much as you can. Close the steam control and set the thermostat to minimum. Now your iron is ready to be stored on its base!
